So I am in by NO means and expert on marriage and family relationships. However, I do proud myself is trying to learn more about what I can do to strengthen my family and others around me.
This blog is to take the form of my Family Proclamation Project for my Family 100 class at BYU-Idaho. Here you will find my favorite lessons that I have learned each week through my assignments. I will also be updating weekly with either article from a creditable source about marriage and families.
My goal for this project is to actively be engaged in my learning of the family. The family unit is the most important organization that we have on the earth. Their is no institution that can replace what can take place in the home. A home is meant to be a refuge and a safe haven. A place of teaching, caring, love, and concern.
As we know, the family unit is being attacked on a daily basis. There are outside forces such as pornography, cohabitation, drugs and alcohol, and abuse that are tearing hundreds of families apart on a daily basis. The number of people choosing to forgo marriage is on the rise along with the large number of divorces.
My mission here is not to tell you how to live your life and what is best for your family. I am providing you with suggestions that can help strengthen you relationship with your spouse and children. It's up to you to ponder, think, and research the information that I have provided.
As a suggestion, I strongly encourage you to learn more about my beliefs. Many of the ideas and opinions that I discuss are largely based on my faith. We belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. To learn more about what we believe just click on the page titled "What We Believe". This will then navigate you over to mormon.org. Next, view The Family: A Proclamation to the World to learn more about what we believe in. Be sure to check out lds.org and browse through the large library of resources that are available.
